Producer price index (PPI) is a price index published by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) monthly. It measures price movements from the seller’s perspective by calculating the average movement in selling prices from domestic production over a period of time. PPI is considered as an indicator for traders to identify inflation over time.
Different from PPI, Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures cost change from the consumers’ perspective. However, it is considered to be a more useful tool of present inflation.
