The Beige Book, also called the Summary of Commentary on Current Economic Conditions, is a qualitative report published by the United States Federal Reserve Board eight times a year. It gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions by each Federal Reserve Bank in its district and sector from Bank and Branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and others. The Beige Book is also one of the many inputs of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which can help the committee to formulate monetary policy, mainly by adjusting the interest rate target of the federal funds.
