Treasury International Capital (TIC) data, also known as Net Foreign Purchases, measures flows of portfolio capital into and out of the U.S. and the position between the United States and foreign residents. This data is edited and released by the U.S. Treasury, and can also be used as a source of the U.S. Balance of Payments data. TIC data is an economic indicator to help identify and predict the direction of the U.S. dollar. A positive TIC represents more securities that were sold than purchased by the nation.
